Captain Caption XLIV

"Wow, they nailed it with the makeup in that new Apes movie, didn't they?"
"No kidding, you could almost believe th...hey, wait a minute.  Aren't we all supposed to be dead?"
  "Yeah, so what's your point?"
"My point is, if we're dead, why the frik should we care about how good that makeup is?"
"Well, I suppose you're right, but you gotta adm..."
"Give it a rest already, Roddy.  And, can you do me a favor and tell Maurice over there to stop sniffing my shoes when we're done every night?  It's starting to skeeve me out."

  1. Maurice was a shoe sniffer? I never knew...

  2. I love the orange 70's leather vest. All the monkeys are just dying to get their hands on one. Just don't throw poo or you'll stain it!

    1. Orange is the new black. Although I would think brown would hide poop stains better.

  3. The monkey in the picture at the top appears to have a cob on (i.e. sulking, if that's a term that hasn't crossed the Atlantic yet!)

    1. I think our expression is that he has a turtle poking out.
      A very disgusted turtle.

  4. I saw the older movies a long time ago. These newer versions are amazing.

    1. The first Planet of the Apes was good.
      The second. Meh.
      The rest? Dreadful.
The TV series? Great googli moogli, I was ill.
The "Marky Mark" apes movie? It had Paul Giamotti in it. Nuff said.
The last two movies? Thumbs up.

  5. I'm pretty sure the 1968 Planet of the Apes movies is where the concept (and probably practice) of Furries was born.

    1. So THAT'S why Zira always looked happy.

  6. Beats a butt sniffer though. They have come a long way

    1. Depends on your view, I suppose (i.e., whether you're the sniffER or the sniffEE).

    2. Does that mean you like being a sniffEE?

  7. I always kinda liked the idea behind the Planet of the Apes. Shoe sniffer, huh?

  8. I really hope that in the old movies, it's a deliberate thing and not just a less than stellar makeup job. They look a lot more human in the old ones, and they even wear clothes. It could be a very subtle hint that the monkeys have evolved since they took over (well they did because they learned human languages anyway) that shows the cycle will repeat itself. These monkeys will evolve into the new humans, blow themselves up, and the cycle will repeat.

      We share these traits.

  9. The new movies apparently have apes like they don't care anything about fashion.

    1. They haven't met any designers from Hollywood.

  10. I recently saw "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" and it was much better than I expected. In fact, I really enjoyed it. Did you know that in the original movie Edward G. Robinson was slated to play Maurice. Unfortunately he was not in good health and the make-up was too much for him. Take care.

    1. That's amazing. Edward G. was so good in the Ten Commandments, too. He would have been a great ape.

  11. Maurice is at it again? Damn him.
Maurice is also the dude who keeps sitting in front of us at every event, Al. Double damn him.

    1. I'm tellin' ya, the dude in front of me at the ballgame was a real piece of work. He made Kool-Aid Man look malnourished.

  12. Even when I wear makeup, I don't look as good as they do. There's something about a furry face that's quite lovable.

    Love,

  13. The new movies are great & all but the apes from the older versions had way better hairdos.

  14. I'd like to put the new "apes" and the original "apes" together. My guess is that Dr Zaius would be the first one to take it up the butt.

  15. I have got to see this flick. Not the original - been there, done that. One time was enough.

  16. Never watched the new ones. Saw the older ones a million times with my mom and just can't bring myself to watch the new ones.

    1. You should give them a look. They're not bad. Except the Marky Mark one. That one IS bad.

  17. The mod 60's attire was the best. It also must have cut down on chafing, as Maurice and company did a lot of bareback riding in the new version. Roddy would've made the horses very jealous.
