Set a spell, take your shoes off, ya'll come back now, ya hear?
You're forgetting the killing of several vampires as the film "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter," so accurately portrayed haha, great post as usual Al.
Reminds of that Bedazzled movie where the guy wishes to become president. He wakes up in Lincoln gear, and finds out he's going to a play.
I think it's better he died really. Everyone uses him as a martyr and an example. I do wonder what else he could have done, but people wanting to emulate his spirit has been a good thing.
If only they had arthritis drugs back then, maybe he would have been more flexible and been able to duck haha or if they only knew the rules to duck duck goose
Al, I have to tell ya, I get a big goofy smile every time I visit your blog. Who else has pictures of pots and molars?
I still don't know which play he went to see.
Our American Cousin.
Yeah; he should have continued chasing vampires instead of going to a play~
"If Lincoln were alive today, he'd probably roll over in his grave." Those are words I'm glad I never uttered.
So sad. He was one of a few true heroes. Even his own party fought with him, but he stayed the course. Now, we have Romney to represent Lincoln's party. Yeah, if only he didn't go see that play.xoRobyn
@Matthew: I hear they're coming out with "John Kennedy: Zombie Slayer." Should be wicked fun.@Adam: All things considered, he would have probably wished he was in Philadelphia, though.@Mark: I wonder what would have happened, too. There was so much hatred in the country at that time (which actually sounds familiar). It would have been interesting to see how Reconstruction would have turned out had we NOT had that tool from Tennessee become president, instead.@Pat: Or if he had dropped his program and bent over.... @Kelly: Goofy. I do Goofy. Well, I don't exactly "do" Goofy. I much prefer Minnie Mouse.@Tony: CW has it right. Lincoln was heard to remark, "PFFFT! I'll wait until it comes to cable." Too bad he didn't have 110 years or so to spare.@CW: Outstanding! Did you read about the events leading up to that night? Lincoln didn't even want to go.@GB: If Lincoln were alive to today, he'd have to worry about "John Kennedy: Zombie Slayer." See: my response to Matthew.@Eva: Yeah, there were probably still a lot of bloodsuckers in Washington.@Robyn: It WAS very sad. From all I've learned about him, he was a very good man. The picture above is Daniel Day-Lewis who will be playing Lincoln in a movie coming out...next year? Should be really good.

I did but it was in Vietnames (I'm guessing). Is there something I need to do to convert it to English (I'm a dopey American and only speak one language).I know enough Spanish to order a beer, though.
*VietnameseSee? I can't even WRITE it! :-)
This reminds me of this funny meme. Look, look, look!http://imgur.com/H4TZd
Oh, THAT IS FUNNY! I have a post in the works which addresses all the dollar coins we've had in our past. Whenever I get around to it, I'll write it.
The renewed interest in Lincoln is nothing short of amazing, isn’t it? I think picturing him as a fearsome vampire hunter is my favorite. After all the guy went through, he deserves to be remembered in the most dynamic, awesome manner. :)
I could probably get all philosophical about why Americans are looking back to great figures from our nation's past, but I won't. Instead, I think it had something to do with vampires and nifty beards.
Yes if only he had ducked............what else would have he been able to do...........maybe nothing maybe his best work was done so it would all be down hill and getting shot let him go out on a high.......lol
I am really glad that Thomas Gates didn't have anything to do with that assassination.
These days, I don't even think about all that stuff he's famous for. I only associate him with vampires.
